What is Sonamarg?

Sonamarg, also commonly written Sonmarg, is a mountain destination in Ganderbal district. Its name means “meadow of gold”, and the Sindh River runs through its setting. Day trip or overnight stay?

For a first Kashmir holiday, a day trip from Srinagar can keep your hotel changes down. It also means travelling back the same day, so keep your list of activities modest. An overnight stay changes the pace, but adds a hotel arrangement and affects where you need to be the following morning.

Choose around your group’s energy and the rest of the itinerary. If you are already changing hotels for Pahalgam, another move may be less useful than a quieter evening in Srinagar. If Sonamarg is the main reason for the trip, discuss extra time there instead of squeezing it between two other excursions.

Confirm access for your actual date
